The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was a bit small and soft for us. The hair dryer needed to upgrade. The breakfast was very delicious, especially the scrambled eggs was the star of the show. The downside was the guests were very noisy. They worked me up several times. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant on the Christmas Eve. The duck breast with cherry and port sauce was very delicious. The monk fish with tomato sauce was very delicious. The ginger sponge dessert was very surprisingly delicious. It was the best vegan ice cream I had ever had. But the service was late and we waited a long time between dishes.
Enjoyed my stay here. Food and service are exceptionally good , staff were excellent warm and welcoming. Rooms are comfortable, antique style furniture but with a modern bathroom. Clearly an old building with the sloping floors. Would happily stay here again...
Just the most delicious antipasti, venison steak and lemon tart! The chef knows what he’s doing and Lizzie is excellent front of house. Thank you for such an amazing meal. Will be back!
What a delight to have discovered the Angel! Not overwhelming from the outside, but fantastic service & rooms; the food was so so good - creative dishes based on Italian cuisine. And also reasonably priced. We'll be back! John, Cambridge
This was our 3rd stay at this lovely inn/hotel. The staff is/are all so kind and welcoming and really make you feel looked after. Our room was very comfortable and the updated en-suite bathroom was clean and modern. The included breakfast is amazing and you can choose from an ample menu. The hotel also has great food available in the lovely pub/bar and the well appointed Italian restaurant. Look out for the daily specials which never disappoint. We look forward to our next visit.
Recently stayed at The Angel during the Latitude Festival and the amazing team at The Angel made my experience even better. I had a fall a few days before the Festival and considered not going over concerns about mobility and travel, etc - Angela at The Angel was brilliant with great advice and guidance on shuttle bus and how to navigate the Festival with limited mobility and other hints and tips. The room was lovely, clean and v.comfortable and the breakfasts were great. And as noted, the staff make this hotel even better and I wouldn't have gone to the Festival without their help. Thank you!
Great little historic inn. Rooms are spartan but well equipped. An upgrade from double to queen sized beds would be nice for two people staying together
Stayed over for a friend's birthday, ideally located in town centre, train station 10 min walk.. Plenty of shops for your needs. Good breakfast, lovely pub, comfortable bed, good service, had a lovely weekend, thanks
